THE UNIVERSITY.

The University Council is in a little difficulty. When it made the sale to the Colonial Bank it was intended to except the clock and bell, worth L3OO, but the deed makes no mention thereof. The Council intend trying to claim the clock as not being a fixture. Mr. Macandrew has amended his resolution. He proposes spending L17;000 on new buildings and professorial residences, and offering L2jo, Ll5O, and LIOO for competitive designs. His resolutions for adding professoi's to the Council is not likely to be carried.
