SEVERE GALE.
Nelson, May 28
The Phoebe arrived last night, having been compelled to put back, owing to stress of weather. On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday she experienced a terrific northwest gale, and on the morning of the latter day her main trysail blew away, and they had to put the helm hard up and run before the gale. At midnight the gale somewhat abated, and Capt. Kennedy, considering he had not sufficient coal left to make the passage to Sydney, determined to run for Nelson. He says that he never experienced a fiercer gale.
