DUNEDIN RACES.
The Races in Dunedin yesterday seem, to hare been highly successful. The weather was very favourable, and the attendance of spectators is stated to have been about 1500. We have not space to give a detailed report, and will therefore briefly record the results of the different events, as follows : Hprdle Race, of 40 sovs. One and ahalf miles. Mr. T. Pollock's br m Camellia, aged, 9st 1 Mr. O'Brien's b g Eclipse, aged, lUsfc 10lb 2 Mr. H. Gourley's ch g Kildare, aged, lOst 101b 3 Tommy Dodd, Banjo, Bothwell, and Bucephalus were scratched. Time, 3min. 163ecs. Maiden Plae, of 35 sovs.—One mile and a quarter. Mr. Gourley's ch f Lady Ellen, by Knottingly— Zig-zag, 3 yrs, 7st 131b (H. Gourley) 1 Mr. A. Smith's b g Little Lad, by Caledon—Little Lady, 4 yrs, Sst 1 lib (J. Cotton) 2 Mr. A. Smith's b m Miss "Willis, 6 yrs, 9st 211) (S. Smith) 3 Telemachus was scratched. Time — 2min. 2Slsec. Biethpay Handicap, of 120 sovs.—One mile and three quarters. Mr. T>. O'L'rien's b <r Eclipse, aged, 7st •Jib, f>.'.-1b0v..".--< .".. ... Time, 3min. 2S|see. Handicap Teotting Race, of 40 sovs. Three miles. No weight under 10st. Mr. W. Swanson's b g Tommy, aged, 2SO yds J Mr. W. Collar's cr m Polly, aged, 200 yds ••: 2 Mr J. "Wallace's br m Bella, 5 yrs, 2/a yds 3 Major, Ranger, Mystery, and Carroll's Tommy were scratched. Time, 9min. 2Ssec. Selling Race, of 35 sovs. One mile and a distance. Mr. A. Smith's b g Haphazard, aged, L2O, 7st lib , _ •-• 1 Mr. H. Gourley's ch g Comet, aged, 1/-U, Mr. A. Smith's br h Elk, 4 yrs, LlO, 6*t 3 A capital race, and won by half a length. Tradesmen's Handicap, of 80 sovs. One mile and a quarter. Mr. AY. Swanson's ch g Sir "William, aged, 7st. ... ... --- _-•- Mr. T. Logan's ch g Cloth of Gold, 4 yrs, Sst. 31b _. •• 2 Mr. F. W. Delamaiu's br h Elfin King, 5 yrs, Sst This race was cleverly won by a head. Time, 2min. 21secs. Tiie Consolation Handicap was won by Elfin Kin"-, after running off a dead heat with Comet. Cloth of Gold, Miss Wills, and Stanley also ran.
