A FIRE.
Napier, May 21,
A fire has occurred in Emerson-street. It threatened to be a large one, but for the steam fire engine, which put it out immediately, although the manual engine had not a perceptible effect in subduing
the flames. Two horses were burned, one nearly destroyed, and another considerably injured. The insurances were —on M'Gregor's building, L 450 in the National ; and Slater's, L2OO in the New Zealand. There was no insurance on the stock or effects.
