SPORTING.
Chuistchukch, May 18.
At a meeting of the Jockey Club, this afternoon, it was resolved to increase the stakes for the Canterbury Cup and C.J.C. Handicap, at the Spring Meeting, from L 250 each to LSOO each. The question of getting a siding constructed to the racecourse, and tie telegraph carried 011 to the course, was also discussed. Members are strongly in favour of it, but no definite decision was arrived at.
