.Riverton, May 18,
At the meeting of the Wallace County [ Council held yesterday, Mr. Vincent Pyke's circular to the chairman, inviting his attendance at a convention of Chairmen of County Councils, was read. It was considered that the Counties Act had not been long enough in operation to warrant the Convention at present, and that it was inadvisable that the chairman should attend. LSOO was voted for the Riverton-Orepuki Road. It was resolved j that the Chairman be paid a salary of L 250 per annum. I
