Dunedin, May 12. WELL-MERITED HONOUR. A diploma of Bachelor of Arts has been publicly presented to Saul Solomon, a Dunedin youth, in the presence of a Urge attendance. The Chancellor, H. S. Chapman, Esq., delivered an excellent address. A DENIAL. Mr. Macandrew writes to the papers denying that the delay in the construction of the southern line of railway is attributable to the agitation of, the Waitepeka
people, and says it is attributable to the J unworthy jealousy which New Zealand Centralism has always manifested toward Otago in general, and to Dunedin in par. ticular—a jealousy which has never misspd an opportunity of decrying and retarding the progress of the Province, and o| thwarting the efforts of those who have been endeavouring to promote its interests, THE THEATRE. Mrs. Scott-Siddons' engagement terini nates to-night. CHRISTIAN EVIDENCES. Professor Salmond's lectures on '* Christian Evidences" are attracting a grea amount of attention.
