MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.
A 'Special meeting of the Municipal Council was held last evening at the Council Chambers. There were present—his Worship the Mayor, and Councillors Gibbs, Booth, Headland, Morton, Mainland, Scott, and Galbraith. THE BVE-LAW3. The regulations drawn up some time ago under the Common Lodging-house Ordinance, and which have already been ptiblh-hel, were finally passed, with an addition thereto, making penalties for breaches of the regulations cumulative, by empowering the addition of a penalty not exceeding 40s. to tiie fine for every day the offence is continued. The present bye-law in reference to the keeping of swine was repealed, and the new bye-law, as published on the 11th April, finally adoped in lieu thereof, the change to come into force on the Ist July next. The bye-laws also published on the 11th April, in relation to licensed theatres and licensed vehicles, were finally adopted, and ordered to come into force on the Ist June next. THE WATEKWOEKS TENDERS. On the motion of Councillor Headland, seconded by Councillor Galbraith, it was resolved that the Council should go into Committee to consider the report of the Engineer upon the tenders in connection with the construe.'ion of the waterworks. Our reporter then withdrew, but we have since learned that the tender of Mr. John Henderson, for sections 1, 2, and 3. was the lowest. For section 4, Laudon contract, no eligible tender had been received, and it was decided to call for fresh tenders for that portion of the works, to be sent in by noon on Monday next. The Council then adjourned until Monday evening next, at eight, when the whole question will be finally settled.
