Maude reports that he held a sale 011 Saturday of fruit and properties. Oranges were disposed of at 6"s 6d per case, and apples at an equal figure. A number of freehold and leasehold properties were submitted, but the only sale effected was that of ft subdivision of section -33, block XIX., Oamaru, with two-roomed cottage thereon at a price equal to LS.j 10s. Messrs. Fleming and Henley report that they held a sale on Friday, at Schluter's yards, of fat and store cattle, draught stock, and implements. Ihere was a \ery large attendance, and the bidding on good lots was very spirited. They quote —Fat cattle, small weights, Lsto L 7 per head; store cattle in high condition, L 6 to 16 10s ; 1 Ayrshire heifer (two-vr.-old), Ll4; calves, LI 10s each. Horses : Hie 3-yr.-oid filly out Georgina, by Duke, bred by the Ho». M. Holmes, found a purchaser in Mr. Little, Ngapara, at 60 guineas : the well-known mare Blossom, imported from Tasmania, sold at L 63; the filly Young Lady, bred by the Hon. M. Holmes, out of Old Lady, by Luke, sold for LSS ; 3-yr-old filly, out of Blossom, by Heather Jock, 1.4') ; the well-known leader Prince, L6O ; other horses, from L3O to L 52 ; 1 colt, by Comet, 3 yrs, unbroken, L4O 10s. Implements fetched full_ rates. Double - furrow ploughs, Ll4 to LI/ 10s.; drays, L 6 to Ll6. On Saturday, on account of whom it may concern, they sold, by order of Messrs. J. and T. Meek, S9 bis cornsac-ks, much damaged, at s?>d to 6\jd per bag. Also, 231 bags damaged wheat, afc from 2s 0d to 2s 11 bushel, bags lOd. Also, on account of Mr. M'Cluskey, a quantity of household furniture. There was a large attendance, and good prices were obtained. Mahogany chairs, 36s each; couch,'l-6 10s; 100 table, L 4 5s ; bedsteads, LI to L 6. DUNEDIN MARKETS. Saturday's Evening Slav reports as follow : week. Orders for up country have increased, and carriers are short of the demand, rates kaving consequently advanced 10s. to 2t)s. per ton. The short supply of candles is felt, and advanced prices have been ofiereel, and refused, for parcels to arrive. We quote them firm at lO.id to 10k! ; kerosene is also better held, Bevoe's and Noonday may be quoted at 2s 6id to 2s 7d, and Diamond at 2e sd; J. B. Hennessy's brandy remains at 10s for bulk, and 33s Gd for case. Sugar is unchanged; stock being held by one merchant ; the present high price is likely to be maintained. o.its are in good demand for shipment; good feed commands 2s 3d to 2s 4d- Butter is abundant, and the prices easier."
