The Governor replies to the unemployed petition that the statements it contains surprise him, and that his Government will furnish employment on the railway works at rates higher than those obtainable in England. WASTE LANDS BOARD. At the Waste Lands Board to-day Mr. M'Gregor, C.E., applied to purchase the Tuakitoto and Kiatangata Lakes, to reclaim them. MUSIC AT THE HIGH SCHOOL. The music teachers for the Girls' High School are Mrs. Wilmot and Mrs. Spooner, at Ll5O each, and Mrs. White at L2OO.
