Mr. Hammersley. the solicitor for the plaintiff, applied for a remand for a fortnight, which was granted by the Bench. Dcxedin, April 12. THE FISHHOOK CASE. The following resolution was passed unanimously at a full meeting of the Dunedin Jockey Club last evening, for the consideration of a letter from the jSTorth Otago Turf Club, " That the Secretary be requested to write to the Secretary of the North Otago Turf Club and state that the Committee of the Duncdin Jockey Club have taken the decision of the Stewards into consideration ; but, before arriving at any decision as to endorsing the resolution, the Committee would feel obliged if they could be furnished with a copy of the evidence taken ; also, the reason why Derritt, the rider of Fishhook, was not disqualified; and would like to be informed if any action was taken in the matter of inquiring if any other parties were implicated in the conspiracy." WILD MAN AT BLUESKiN. Awild man of the woods was encountered at Blueskin on Sunday, wielding a huge club, and raving about the Transit of Venus and Vulcan. The police are now in search for him. A HUGE MISTAKE. The dancing academy known as St. George's Hall has been nearly chopped clown. An old lady was making some coffee at an American stove, the funnel of which projects through an upper window, and a neighbour, seeing the smoke, yelled "fire," and burst in the door with an axe.
FIRE BRIGADE BOOTS. The Fire Brigade has furnished an explanation to the City Council to the effe- 5 that the reason why they accepted the highest tender for boots was that the other tenderers neglected to furnish samples. RUN SALE. The Kurawao Run was passed in at L 3 ss. per acre, the highest bid received being only L 3 Is.
