SALE OF BLOOD STOCK.

Messrs. Maclean Brothers were not favoured with very inviting weather on Saturday, and in consequence their sale of blood stock belonging to Mr. M. Studholme, of Waimate, was not so successful as it would undoubtedly have been had the weather proved more propitious. The sale was attended by a largs number of sporting men, Dunedin and Christchurch being very well represented ; but only a small number of the lots were sold, the others being passed in or not put to the hammer at all. Amongst the largest buyers was Mr. Dan. O'Brien, the owner of Fishhook. This gentleman became the purchaser of a couple of two-year-old racers, both of which are entered for the Dunedin Derby and Leger and the Christchurch Leger. The' first of these was Xautippe, °a fine bay filly by Detractor, out of Meranda, and brought 150 guineas. The other was the beautiful filly Luna, by Traducer, out of Flying Fish, and sister to Mr. Delamain's grand little horse Templeton, and was by fas'-the best bit pj
