MAGISTRATE'S COURT.
THIS DAY. (Before T. W. Parker,.Esq., R.M.) larceny. Daniel Canty, on bail, was charged with having stolen, on the 3rd instant, a number of empty casks and cases, of the value of LI, the property of Hugo Lippert. On the charge being read over, accused asked that the case might be adjourned until Tuesday, in order that he might procure the assistance of counsel. No objection being made by the police, his Worship granted the application, bail being again granted on two sureties of LlO each, and himself in Lls. DRUNKENNESS AND BREAKING A WINDOW. Thomas Griffen, alias Griffen Green, was charged with being drunk in Teesstreet on the 4fch instant. The same prisoner was also charged with having wilfully broken a large pane of glass in the window of the shop of Mr. James White, valued at L 3 10s. Accused denied having wilfully broken the window.
Evidence having been taken showing that accused had thrown the stone wilfully and without provocation, his Worship ordered accused to pay the amount of damage clone—L3 10s. —or to be imprisoned for one month.
