CRICKET MATCH.

TOWN V. COUNTKY. A match between elevens of tlie local club representing the town and country was played to-day. Play commenced about 11 o'clock, and the weather was all that could be desired for cricketing. Mr. F. Fen wick captained the Town team, and Mr. G. Millington the Country eleven. Mr. Donald acted as umpire for the Town, and Mr. Dundas for the Country. Mr. Millington, having won the toss, decided to take field. Rice and Sumpter were the first to appear at the wickets, to the bowling of G. Millington and Clark. Notwithstanding that the ground was anything but favourable for good bowling, Millington was very successful in lowering the wickets of the Town men, having no less than six wickets to his credit. The Town team was disposed of for 52 runs, of which number Rice made 11, and Edwards 10. The Country eleven then tried their powers with the bat, Young and G. Millington going to the wickets, to the bowling of Maude and G. Fen wick. The first few of the representatives were disposed of very quickly, all of them being caught out. Nicholls, however, made a stand, and was not got rid of until he had placed 17 to liis credit before being caught by Hombersley off Fenwick's bowling. None of the others succeeded in getting into double figures, the innings terminating for 41, or 11 behind that of their opponents. At this stage of the game our reporter left. Altogether the match was a very agreeable one, and was witnessed by a goodly number of spectators. The following are the scoreß :
