THE EXPIRED LEASES.
The Guardian has a strong leader against the re-leasing of the Silver Peak district in large blocks, in which it urges that the leases be reduced from 5000 to 500 acres. It comes down sarcastically on Mr. Arthur, the Chief Surveyor, for saying that small holdings would necessitate the making of roads.
