OUR VOLUNTEERS.
The Volunteers mustered strongly last evening at the monthly inspection parade, there being in attendance —one major, one staff-sergeant, two lieutenants, three sergeants, and 87 rank and file. After inspecting the arms and accoutrements, Major Steward addressed the companies, and said that he was glad to see Volunteer Harding back from the representative firing, after having made such a creditable performance as that of being third highest scorer in the whole Colony ; and he was sure the companies would salute him with the arms at breast, which was done. He also remarked that out of the match between the North and South Islands no less than two of the winning team belonged to No. 1 Company, viz.,
Sergeant "King and Volunteer Harding; and hoped to see the Champion Belt brought to Oamaru next year. After going through some different movements in the hall, the Volunteers marched through the town to the music of the Band. "We hopo to see in future as large (if not a larger) muster as that of last night.
