MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.

- At the usual fortnightly meeting held last evening, there were present—The Mayor (W. J. Steward, Esq.), and Councillors Gibbs, Morton, Mainland, and Headland. KEROSENE. Mr. J. S. Anderson's offer to supply kerosene at 3s. Bd. per gallon for the next six months was accepted. BUILDING REGULATIONS. An application from Mr. R. Blair, to erect an iron shed on his premises in Coquet-street, was granted.

MUNICIPAL LEASE,

Mr. Jolin Black applied for the lease of Municipal Section 9, Block LXXVIII. It was resolved that the lease of the Section be sold by auction, the upset price to be £2 Bs. per annum. BRIDLE POST. Permission was given to Mr. Bicknell, Postmaster, to erect two posts and a bar in front of the Post Office. THE OVERFLOWING OF THE CREEK. Another letter from Mr. Simpson, in reference to the damage done to his property during the late floods, was held over for consideration at next meeting. PERMANENT LEVELS OF ALN-STREET. The Clerk was instructed to inform Mr. Brownlee that no permanet levels having been as yet adopted for Aln-street, the Council is unable to supply him with the information desired. BALANCE-SHEET OF THE GASWORKS. The balance-sheet of this department was read and adopted. Its extreme length precludes the possibility of our publishing it in extenso ; but as the profit and loss account will explain to our readers the financial position of the department, we subjoin it : PROFIT AND LOSS ACCOUNT For six months ending' 3ist December, 1876.
