THE DUNEDIN MILLERS' COMPACT.

The following is the extraordinary.. " Compact " entered into, onu the cir- 4 *" culars issued by, the millers of JDunedin : (copy op compact.) From and after the date hereof, the undersigned millers agree to the following resolutions, viz. : 1. That they will not supply any dealer, or any other person in Dunedin or suburbs, with either flour, oatmeal, pearl barley, bran, pollard, or barley dust, who, from and after the Ist February, 1877, imports any of the said articles from Oamaru or elsewhere, or who shall buy from any other person so importing. 2. That all bran, pollard, or barley dust bags shall be charged at the rate of 9d. each, and shall be neither filled, taken back, or exchanged. 3. That the prices of all millers' manufactures shall be fixed from time to time and shall not be charged without the cc sent of the undersigned. 4. In the event of any of the undersigned desiring to execute export orders for any of their manufactures, they shall be at liberty to do so at a reduction of five per cent, upon rates agreed upon should they so wish ; and they may export upon consignments as much as they like, and upon what terms they please. 5. Any of the undersigned ■ may terminate this agreement by he or they giving one month's notice in writing to each of the parties of his or their intention to withdraw from same, and at the end of thirty days after date of said notice, this agreement shall terminate, and each of the undersigned shall be at liberty to act as they think proper. 6. Any of the undersigned who shall in any way infringe any of above resolutions shall forfeit and pay a penalty of one hundred pounds (£100), said penalty to be paid immediately the breaking of any of the clauses is ascertained, and shall be recoverable as and for liquidated damages, and be divided amongst those keeping the resolutions in equal amounts, and shall be recoverable from the party, breaking this agreement in a court of law, if nec.-ssary, by any of the parties keeping it.
