A correspondent of the Melbourne Christian Review writes:—"lt is a remarkable fact that immediately following the great revival with whioh Scotland has been blessed, we hear universal complaints as to the prevalence of intemperance. Qno is not prepared for this. We should have been more prepared to hear that the national vice had received a decided check ; but it is not so. One minister, speaking at a meeting in Edinburgh during the sitting of the Assemblies, 'stated that drunkenness had increased with unparalleled speed in the town in winch he labored during the past year. Others hear similar testimony. The In-spsctor-Gener'al of Hospitals in the British army has published a letter in the Times, beginning with the .startling words, 'Scotland is drinking itself to. death,'!" . ' fM
