An accident occurred yesterday afternoon to a man named J::mes Dungan, employd at Robertson's Shoeing Forge, Tyne street. It appears that Robertson wa3 performing some operation t<> a horse, and the injured man was holding the animal's head, when it became restive, and succeeded in throwing him heavily to the ground. The shock was so great that h .; fainted, remaining in that state for some considerable time, an-1 oil recovering, it was found necessary to have liim removed to his residence in an express. On iuqniry, however, this morning, we lea n that, though much shaken, his injuries are not of a serioas nature. The results of the various nominations for the different ridings are now to hand, with ihe single exception of Oliau, of which there ha* been no official return. There is scarcely a shadow of a doubt, however, that the Hon. Hobjrt Campbell wiJl be the chosen one. In the oiher riding of Utama'akau, Mr. Duncan .Sutherland has been returned unopposed In fact, we have been informed that 'lhere are but two electors in the riding- ihe proposer and seconder, who happens in this case to be thj successful candidate. It will be thus seen that out of the nine ridings in Waitaki County, in the five which are to be contested, there are no more than two candidates, while in the four others the present members we' e allowed a walk over.
