HORTICULTURAL SHOW.

The ninth annual exhibition of the North Otago Horticultural Society was opened this morning. The judges very properly commenced their inspection and proceeded to make their awards before the exhibition was thrown open to the public. The show was held in the Volunteer Hall, which was gracefully decorated for the occasion. Rows of tables were placed on each side of the building, with two lines up the centre, and one at the head of the room. The table on the lefthand side of the building was allotted to fruits and vegetables, the right-hand to flowers, and the two centre tables to shrubs and plants. The -judges in the first lot, or pot plants, were—Mr. Leith, gardener to Mr. Menlove, of Windsor J Park ; Mr. Kerr, of Typo, gardener to Mr. Teschemaker ; and Mr. M'Laren, of Oamaru. The display of fruit and plants was excellent, but some portions of the flowers were not well represented, particularly in verbenas and carnations. The collection of roses, on the contrary, was something superb. The judges commenced their labors with POT-HOUSE PLANTS GARDENERS.
