POST CARD REGULATIONS.
From the latrjpbmnber of the JS't-t-c fattttmit Gazette, we take the following regulations with regard to the Postal Cards, which come into operation to-morrow •. On and from the Ist November next, Post Cwds wiLi be issued to the public by the Post Office, tinder the follow In.•„- Ueguatiao»t and will be sold in packets uf six sirds for sixpence : I. Post Cards, whether official ©rprirafce, having a stamp of one penny impressed upon them, may be transmitted between places in the Colony of New Zealand; and to certain other places,, hereafter mentioned, at letter rates. 2L The front, or stamped side of the card, is for the address only, and, beyond (he written or printed address, nothing whatever most be printed or written upon that side of the card. (>a the reverse jide, any communication, whether of the aatore of a tetter or otherwise, may be printed or written. Nothing whatever may be attached to the card, nor may it be folded, cut, or otherwise altered. If any of the above conditions be infringed, the card shall be charged one penny on delivery. 3. No cards other than those batted by the Government, or private earda stamped by the Government with a penny scamp, under the special authority of the Post-master-General, can be used for the purpose of making a written communication I through the Post Office, unless sac It cards i be prepaid the ordinary fall tetter-postage. 4. Should » Post Cord be observed to bear upon it anything of an obscene, libellous, or obviously objectionable nature, it will be detained and sent to the Dead Letter Office for disposal. 5» The postage stamp on Post Cards shall be defaced with the single-dated staa*p. 6. The existing rules in regard to reilireetioft shall also apply to Post Cards. 7". When, owing to a great and unusual influx of letters, books, Ac, the transmission of tetters would be delayed if the whole moil were dealt with without distinction. Post Cords (unless paid for and posted us letters) may be kept back until the next despatch or delivery. 8. No gratuity is payable upon Post Cards forwarded in Mails- by steamers or other vessels.
