Wedding Rings.—Were used by the ancients, and put upon the weddingfinger, from a supposed connection of a vein with the heart. According to Pliny* the wedding-ring should be made of iron; "but in the time of Tertullian, they were of gold. Wedding rings were, by * statute passed in. 1858, ordered to be 0 standard gold.
