THE CRISIS.
[by electbic telegraph.] 0..., Wellington, Tuesday. After a good deal of discussion in the House yesterday, Mr. WHITAKER moved the second reading of the Indemnity Bill. Mr. STOUT made a strong speech against it, and said, when the second reading came on, all the Opposition should walk out of the House. Mr. READER WOOD moved that it should be read that day. six months. Mr. MACANDREW quite agreed as to the walking out. He looked on the whole proceedings as discreditable, and a piece of tyranny by the majority. Sir GEORGE GREY and Mr. REES followed in much strains, Sir George Grey saying it was .using the majority to rob constituencies of "their rights to say whether they should again elect Ministers. .The principal members of the majority then walked out of the House, and a good deal of sharp debate followed between the Ministerialists and those of the Opposition, who remained in the Chamber ; but after this was over the Bill went through Committee very rapidly, and was read a third time and passed. Mr. SHARP gave notice to move that a sum be put on the Estimates to indemnify those who instituted legal proceedings against the Ministers. Several members opposed the idea, and the House adjourned at 11.30.
