PRESENTATION.
The presentation of a very handsome and valuable gold chronometer watch, on behalf of the directors of the Timaru Gas Company to Mr. Henry CourtiS) late Engineer to the Company, took place at Oamaru, yesterday afternoon. The makers of the "\vatch are Nicole and Capt, of London, the cost being seventy-five guineas in the • latter city. The construction is of the most finished and elaborate description, the day of the week and the month of the y# r being indicated on the face. The folio*" ing is the inscription : —" Timaru, Canterbury, New Zealand. Presented to Henry Courtis, Esq., by the Timaru .Gas Company, as a mark of their appreciation of the expeditious and efficient manner in which he carried out and completed the Company's Works. Ist April, 1876." B should be stated that Mr. Frederick Le Cren, of Timaru, kindly undertook to make the presentation.
