GENTEEL LARRIKINISM.
TO THE EDITOR OF TITE EVENING MAIL. Sir, —The members of theOamaru Dramatic Club were highly "exercised" on the occasion of their last appearance at the unseemly interruption which took place. The sympathies of the Press and the public were with them, and the conduct of the person offending was held up to general reprobation. Bearing that in mind I was, therefore, much surprised to see certain members of the Club deporting themselves in an equally obnoxious manner at the entertainment on Saturday night. They not only grossly insulted one of the lady performers, but were a positive nn sance to those unfortunately in their immediate vicinity by their incessant and illtimed chatter. I think, sir, when gentlemen (?) have not the decency to control their caddisli propensities in the presence of ladies, it is the duty of the manager to show them—the door; for it certainly would be more conducive to "filling" a house than the questionable patronage alluded to, which only serves to "empty "it, and keep all respectable people away.—l am, &c., Maggotfin.
