PLOUGHING MATCH.
[Per Pigeon Express.] > ♦■■ ; A ploughing match, under the auspices L of the Northern Agricultural and Pastoral i Association, took place to-day, in a pad--1 dock kindly lent by the Hon. Matthew s Holmes, of Oamaru. The attendance of 1 the public was considerably largef than ' we could have anticipated, and the interest manifested in the match was suffi- '. cient to prove that these contests are very popular with residents hi Oamaru and the t districts. The ground was a "wee" . brittle, but at the same time was conr sidered a fair lay of land. On the ground 3 was a bootli, under the superintendency r of Mr. M. Hanley, of the White Hart - Hotel, which was well patronised. 1 The ploughing commenced at 10 o'clock 1 precisely, and of the fifteen entries, fourteen came to the scratch, the names of 1 which were as follows : Et.
