THE WATER SUPPLY.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE EVENING MAIL. Sir, —Please permit me to make corrections in my letter as published by you. kft Saturday evening. It does not much matter whether it is your P.D. or myself jvfep is to blame, the fact remains that, as prmt'eu, part of the letter is unintelligible. ~ . j^ The first error that I notice is in thqWord-' ing of my estimate (based on Mr. former calculations) of the probable cbsjfecfif the race, &c. It is in the third line; it shorna read, "fluming stonework and concrete, £4,000." The next is in the third line below. "Total, £50,356." It should read, "Stone and concrete of reservoir." "Less than £34,000 "is printed. It skould-be ' ' £3&000." In the dimensions of the water-wheels "?6ase " is printed. It should be "face." The last clause should read, "I am very much afraid that, in Mr. M'Leod, Oamaru has got on! its' shoulders an old man, bike Sindbad," &c. Hoping you will kindly publish those corrections—l am, &c, Ratepayer. [Our correspondent must take the blame for the unintelligible portions of his previous letter. We followed the manuscript eSactly. —Ed. E.M.]
