TAKE CHARGE
Referee Must Be The Master LECKIE— DONOVAN C"OR the fourth time Johnnie Leckie and Tommy Donovan meet. At Palmerston on Saturday nigrht n.ext the result will give one or the other an edge. In the first three bouts they are even pegging, a win each and a draw. This time it will be at catchweights, and both are sure to be over the feath-
er limit, Leckie probably being three or four pounds over nine stone. The first meeting of the pair saw Leckie knock Donovan, but what has been seen m subsequent clashes makes ! "Truth" wonder how that right hand found its mark. Since that night it has not looked a good thing to be repeated. When Donovan won the title at Napier a month back, the fight was more an advertisement -for good old Seville, where the bulls, the picadors, the matadors and the toreadors hang out. It was rough, because the referee did not exercise his authority, but, this week Frank O'Neill is not likely to stand for all-in tactics. At long range the, pair can stage a wonderful bout and they should be | made to do so. ! Palmerston and district has not seen Donovan, and this opportunity will not be allowed to slide. There will be a big house. Tommy is going to strip m his best, and Leckie, knowing how hard the contest is going to be, is training as I he has never trained before. It should be worth the night off,.
