CONTROL
Aw! Give it a rest for the love of Mike, And. let: us have something free, ' . It's control of this" and control of that, In every rag I see. \ ; The twopence I pay for the sheets of news, Is hard enough to earn, ' But strike me pink it's every day, Whichever way I turn. ■<'' They've got control on their bloomin' brain, It's enough to turn your hair; It came with the war and its been here since It started with our beer. Honey and cricket, schools or floods, There's control of everyone; What I wanter know is what'll come next, Before the cows are ;done? Control of tennis, prices, booze, . And education too, . Of bathing, babies, racing, cheese, , Of things both old and new. There ain't a thing they won't control, The way they're shaping now, And a man'll get that much^ control, He'll break into the "wow," Where he'll have the chance to play the fool, Or have his daily grouse; His only other alternative, A Member of the House. Why not control our sleep and scran, Our .clothes, our wives, our pay; Our smoke, ou.r thoughts, our brains, our walks, And all our rotten clay? Why not control the long-faced saps, Who smell out every sin, And shout our girls will float to Helli On a stream of cocktail gin? I We're told we're free, But we won't be long, If they carry along like this, And what I says about control, Is give it a blasted miss. There's only one control we want, It's a long way overdue, Our blinkin' members of Parliament, Who pushed us into the stew.
