A Railway Man

CHIEF officer of the Publicity department of the Railways, C. P. Ryan is a practical railwayman who knows everything there is to know about the "Iron Horse." He linked up with the traffic department m Auckland thirty years ago, and, m ' the course of time, came to be. stationed at a number of different towns m- the Dominion as station- ■ master and' postmasterl He later transferred to the accountancy side, and was for some years employed on statistical work. Six months ago he took over his present position with the publicity department. A typical out-of-doors man, he has an appreciative eye for the beauty and pleasure spots which are likely to attract city dwellers m search of air, and by. popularising them and arranging for excursion trains to them, he's helping the railways to rake m the shekels. An ex-Taranaki rep. footballer, bowls is now his chief form of recreation — when he can find time to play.
