THE MAIDENS

Biddy Parrish Can

Go Fast

(From "N.Z. Truth's" South Island Trotting Rep.) TWO likely sorts appeared among the maiden trotters' class at Brighton outside of the winner, Lough Guy. W. J. Tompkinsori produced one of them m Biddy Parrish, and even though she was turned the wrong way when the barrier was released, she gradually made up ground and eventually finished second m 3.39 for the mile and a-half, or 11 sees, better than handicap time. _ Biddy Parrish does her work right, and even though she was all m at the finish she made no mistakes, and as she is entitled to at | least a 3.47 mark next time out she looks a good prospect. Guy Carbine impressed by his style even more than Biddy Parrish, for he is good gaited, showed plenty of speed after breaking m his last half, was up 1 second half-way up the straight, and went 3.39 2/5 first time out m a race. Mignonne is scooting round the corners as fast as Alf. Mattson at Western Springs. Save your dollars, boys! ' * * ft Purser will win one soon. You can take that for granted, despite anything you hear to the contrary.
