DOUBLES BETTORS' QUANDAR Y

TARANAKI NOMINATIONS

Gold Dawn Is Looking Well, also Bright Glow and Green Linnet

MOERANGI BENEFITTED BY SPELL

(From "N.Z. Truth's" Taranaki Representative.)

TARANAKI nominations for New A Plymouth and Stratford are good, except possibly the open races, m which the club has not been rewarded for its action m not reducing the, stakes. Stratford nomiriations are better. I * * * I With eight m the Christmas Handicap, and five of those also nominated m the Flying, doubles bettors will be m a quandary. I * * * Orazone is back m steady work again. Jack Fryer has been very patient with the Bisogne mare, which is very consistent when well. He hopes to produce her at New Plymouth, where the Christmas Handicap should suit her. *. * * I Gold Dawn is working very well just now. Billy Mantle has the mare looking well, and it will be surprising if she does not make amends for last season's failures. She is now almost on the minimum, too. ] * * * Belle Star will be heard of m open company this season. She has been nominated m the Christmas Handicap, and as she stays on can be regarded as a possibility if Dick Johnson starts I her. * * * The stable is more apt to rely on The Swell for the big race and save Belle Star for the six *# ' * The veteran Yoma is to be seen m action again. He is standing up to his work at Stratford. * * * If Royal Finance is reserved for the Atiawa Cup, even though at the head of the weights, she will carry a lot of support. * * * Meanwhile her stable-mate, Lady Quex, will send local punters broke if she does not win the Railway. * * * Omeo is going well and will be given a chance to win the Atiawa up. * # * New Plymouth's youngsters — Gibraltar, Easter Time, Sparkling Morn, Hinepuni and Cornerman — will be seen m action during the holidays. All are speedy, but Easter Time is not too good at the barrier yet, though improving.

Te Atiawa and Orapai are going well. # « * I Annbyer has been galloping very freely and showing plenty of pace, but the Antagonist gelding seemed sore on Saturday. # * * Percy Johnson has turned Rapai out for a lengthy spell. Razor has improved since being under this mentor, and, moreover, is a proficient hurdler. # # # T"he latest addition to Percy's string is Traced, a Surveyor filly from Auckland. It was hoped to race her during the holidays, but she will require a lot of building up.

Moerangi benefited very greatly by his spell and should made a good showing m the hurdle events during the holidays. * * * Crennatown continues to hit out boldly. * * * Silvermine and Awaken are doing great work at Hawera. J. Brown is quite satisfied that his pair of Railway candidates will be m the picture. * * * Bright Glow is being given steady work and at present is doing well. Though she has caused Jack Fryer | some worry it is hoped to produce her at Stratford.

Green Linnet should be useful during the holidays. She is working very wen. * * * Melissa is galloping well. She is staying on nicely. It is probable she will take on the Christmas Handicap. #* • # Havering, which has been pottering about on the roads and hills since Christchurch, is back on the Hawera tracks, looking very bright, too. # # * Isa is still very speedy and moreover is more solid now. * * » Joy Spear is going well at Hawera. Opunake sports have him ticked off for the Atiawa Cup. # * * Goblin Market is doing well and will strip better than at Waverley. ** ■ # The Warden is doing plenty of strong work at Hawera. ** . # Denier is jumping well at Hawera. #* - * Peg Black, Calamine, Tentcall, Anbridge and Gasnapper are a quintet doing good work. i
