RAILWAY TRIAL
(From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) Though northern racing" enthusiasts would have preferred Chromadyne to remain m the Flying at Waipa, that sprint was still regarded as approaching a Railway trial.
MAINLY, of course, on account of the ** A presence of Karapoti m the field, | and those who witnessed his performance are hardly likely to slacken m their admiration for him. He certainly did not win by any stretch of daylight, but his effort throughout appealed. Hia dash to the front and the ease with which he paced along -to the
home turn made it clear that nothing but bad luck will prevent him from getting up with the leading division on Boxing Day, and m a race like the Railway early speed counts for much. He will be down nine pounds m the Railway from Waipa weights, and that will have to be considered with 'a horse which has won three m succession. The speedy son of General Latoui Kilbeggan only won by half a length from his stable-mate, Pegaway, but Gray did not have to kick him right out to run his 1.13 4/5. Sir Kay did not display his boomed beginning ability, and really gave the leader fully eight lengths at one stage, and then finished third, only two lengths away, with Royal Ruler fourth.
