A FIT HORSE

In The Shade Looks The Part

FINISHED STRONGLY

(From "N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.)

JUDGED on his appearance at Waipa, In the Shade promises to strip one of the best-conditioned horses m the Auckland Cup. Jamieson had his charge right up to the ideal pitch last Saturday, and it is well that he did, for none but a fit horse could haVe threaded his way from the rear markers to victory with 9.4 qn his back. The result once again showed that the majority of handicap horses round

about the Auckland district ' are of very medium class. Still it would have said fittfe of In the Shade's prospects for the Auckland Cup had he not proved capable of defeating last Saturday's opposition, turned out as he was at his best. When he steps out on Auckland Cup day he will have sixteen pounds less to carry, hut will still have four pounds more than he failed with at Ellerslie last Boxing Day, when he stripped looking the real thing. This year he will certainly meet Concentrate, the victor of 1929, on thirteen pounds better terms.
