New Feminine Speed Record DARING FLIGHT MRS. FLORENCE LOWE BARNES, flying- her Travel Air Mystery S. Airplane, recently set. a new world's record for women of 196.19 m.p.h. A measured course was marked out for the attempt at Los. Angeles municipal airport, and this daring woman established a new record. Mrs. Barnes, who is a member of a prominent Southern California family, flew at only 165 feet from the ground The flight was described as a combination of sheer nerve, skilful piloting and implicit faith m her 'plane. It' is rumored that she is planning an even more ambitious speed record, still using the same motor spirit — Union.
