FOR'generations his ancestors followed the ancient' art of the cultivation of the vine, so it is not to be wondered .at that Assid Abraham Corban should, m h*is turn, have followed the vinter's calling and engaged himself m the production of that which maketh glad the heart of man- —wine. It was on the sunny slopes of Mt. Lebanon, m distant Palestine, that his forbears watched the grapes cluster and ripen, but it is right here m New Zealand, to be exact at Mt. Lebanon, Auckland, that "A.A.C." oursues the toil of his fathers. He could only have been m the middle twenties when he left Palestine to seek his fortune over herci He saw twelve months m Australia, but decided that New Zealand's was a better climate for the growing of the honored grape, and though on his arrival here he first of all tried his hand m the shop business, he was later destined to be one of the pioneers "of wine production m the Dominion. Twenty-eight successful years^ of business m this direction have amply yin- ] dicated his belief m New Zealand's j possibilities m this line. '
