SINGLES CHAMP.

Angas Is Ready For

Opposition \ (From "N.Z. Truth's" Christchurch Rep.) JUDGING by the way. they are heading already, the' stars m the Canterbury team for the Dominion championships are going to make things difficult for visiting searchers after tennis honors. Outstanding among the Canterbury men, Charlie Angas promises to retain his singles title against all-comers, and the., fans who have seen him m action hope to see Edgar Bartleet make up his mind' to take part m the trip south this year. . The northern contingent, while no doubt having every chance of defeating Angas, are going to meet the singles champion at his best, and . just how good his best is few have had an opportunity to find, out. Naturally, Canterbury fans favor Angas fpr the big event, and on his present showing at least, their • enthusiasm is justified. Angas is an older and more tried player this season on. account of his recent victories, and the visitors are likely to learn something from him rather than; teach him any points. If there is one thing more than another that Angas is capable of demonstrating just at present it is the drive. Still with a mimimum of effort, he has the drive well under his power, and it is quite likely that the championship meeting will see a more aggressive Angas m action. - ■
