ALL EYES ON DUNEDIN
Third Clashing of Donovan and Sarron On Saturday PETE SAYS HAND WILL BE O.K. Two up and one to play. Tommy Donovan, with successive victories over Pete Sarron, will endeavor at Dunedin on Saturday afternoon to make the score three to nil.
IN the two previous meetings of the pair there have been great crowds to witness spirited contests, and notwithstanding the fact that Tom has both the decisions there are- any amount who think that Sarron is the better man. " ■ At New Plymouth there was no doubt about this, but at Wellington the wind had chopped to the other quarter and Donovan was not' only on (his feet when the final gong sounded, but was repaying back m coin. Many thought Donovan clearly the winner; many thought Sarron; and, then again, quite a number reckoned a draw would Have been a fitting verdict. It is this difference of opinion that will. make for the success of the Otago venture. Continued rernatchingr of two boys is more often than not bad policy, but m the case of Sarron and Donovan it can only mean financial success. Si/ice the pair last met Sarron has had to rest owing to an injured left hand, but Donovan had a fight last Aveek and beat Grime on a foul.'. Though not able to do any boxing Sarron has fitted himself for Saturday's engagement, he having undergone a strenuous course of physical training.
As to the hand, Sarron jholds that it will be all right, and he is the best judge of that. Still, the fact remains that since he fought Decide m February Pete has only .had the gloves on four times— twice m combat with Donovan and twice m exhibitions. It is sincerely hoped that the hand does riot give out, but if it does Sarron had better keep"- the fact to himself. There will only "be one person to blame. „ Last week Donovan' showed out well against Grime. He was more of the boxer than fighter on this occasion and he was giving his left hand plenty of practice. Tom will tackle this third fight with a deal more confidence than he had at Wellington and there is reason^for him to think prospects of success are bright. The big, mill is timed to "start at 2.45 p.m. and the association has given permission for broadcasting! The four YA stations will be on the air, also 2YB. The announcer will once again be George Aldridge. Whatever be the outcome of the bout it is almost certain that it will be the last open air and big purse contest for some many months.
