MEYER 'has there .been a greater surZ .P ri f ce o i" ; Hockey m Christchurch than that of Saturday last, when Selwyn, the crack team for years, went down to Redcliffs, a, club which were playing their first game m senior, competition. • Redcliffs, who won the Junior Championship last year, are comprised mainly of young, keen players, but on Saturday there, were a couple of old stagers from other clubs m the team, and the experience of these, added to the youth and vigor of the rest of the team, proved Selwyn's undoing. H. Snooks, Canterbury and New Zealand representative goal keeper, who last year played for Wharenui, was between the sticks for the side, and he was worth his weight m gold. ' . *■ ■ \ Stan. Mander, the St. Albahs centrehalf, and an ex-Canterbury rep., is the other experienced player who has thrown m his weight with the side.
