Good Fields Are The Order
(By "The Toff.") At Ashburton, Deceitful finished^ second to King's Voyage m the' Allenton Handicap, her time for the mile and a-half being 3.34 2/5. TN the Bayfield Handicap at Forbury she is on, 3.44, so it is only a question of Deceitful repeating her Ashburton performance to pay a dividend. Great Harvester from 24yds. and Fifa from 36yds. appear to be Deceitful's most formidable opponents. In the Domain Handicap, Lord Matchlight may carry most money of the front-markers. He won at Hororata, but failed to show up -in the Welcome Handicap decided at Addington at Easter. . Willie Derby has had racing experience, but on form Lady Zephyr should finish m front of , Lord Matchlight and Willie Derby. Ulm on 12yds. and Great d'Oro on 24yds. are possibilities also. For the mile saddle Anon and Nelson's victory will carry a lot of money. Nelson's Victory is a very promising pacer, so is Lady Antrim, and m a snappy finish Nelson's Victory may just beat Anon and Lady Antrim. Ambition \will be favored for the St. Clair Handicap. She has done well on the Forbury track, but has not tackled as good class as she will meet next week. Still, she has accomplished ' good things m private, and unless Jock Bingen and Lazarus outstay her m the straight, she should add to her record. A big field is down to fight put the Renown Handicap. On Ashburton :form Pink Sugar should be home and dried. Becky d'Oro will be hard to beat, so will Morrison, which won the Welcome Handicap at Addington. • The journey will suit Dice also, but Pink Sugar should win. ■ The Flying Handicap will stir the crowd. Vendomme and Warepa will be m the picture at the end of ten furlongs, so will Lady Cello and Morning Sun.
