Dalgety's clearing sale, is pottering about again and will be prepared for spring racing. Sentiment entered largely into his purchase and the old stager is at least assured of a good home. *. * * Red Heckle will not be raced during the winter, as it is considered that with the heavy scale of weights his light constitution would not stand up to the racing. *' • * ' # Paquito has been turned out for a couple of months, and there Is no ;': certainty that he will be raced In the spring. The Thurnham gelding hasx earned his rest. I. * * # Fred Jones is keeping First Sight pottering about, but he will not be raced during the winter. This lightly constitutloned mare has -brilliant speed, but she will not be asked for a great deal until next season opens. * * * Great Star seems to have Jack Prosser puzzled. He is keeping the sprinter going on light tasks. At the Canterbury meeting Great Star did not stick on as well as he used to, but he might do better m the winter. * . ■ ■ * * Bert Gillett will take Magna Charta to Dunedin m June and he has hopes that the hurdler will continue from where he left off last winter after winning his first race over the hurdles.
