Special Float To Carry Brood Mares j Game Carrington, the Gisborne studmaster, was a game buyer when he went to the' English market and bought the Hurry On horse Hunting Song. P ARRINGTON had to give big money for the stallion, and the odds were not on his side when the purchase was made. But fortune favors the brave, and now the wheels are spinning merrily his way. Realising that he was somewhat isolated at Makaraka, Carrington decided on a shift down into the centre of the North Island, but after being out of Palmerston for a while he found the country was not quite suitable, and back he went to Gisborne. The question of getting brood mares and foals to and from his ranch was a big one, and it was not till the English horse had started on his successful career that owners were willing to take the risk. Tlie two best three-year-olds of this season were by Hunting Song — Pink Coat and Hunting Cry. That Carrington. is prepared to help owners over the difficulty m transporting mares he has shown m a tangible manner. j Game is having built a float which will carry three dry mares or two mares and foals. This motor conveyance, which is the latest of English designs, will make the matter of moving mares and foals a very simple one, and- is one that iwill appeal immensely to owners of I valuable matrons.
