IN his 'younger 'days James Daniel Lynch bought gold for the National Bank at Ahaura where he was stationed as the bank manager. "J.D." has
taken a keen interest m local politics and held the office of Greymouth's Mayor for several terms, a post he filled Avith credit to himself and usefulness to the town. To him fell the honor of receiving the Prince of Wales m Greymouth. During
his period as Mayor, Greymouth made a distinct forward movement, and m the Chamber of Commerce he showed progressive ideas. Though having made way for the younger team of West Coasters, "J.D." still takes a keen interest m Coast affairs and has the West Coaster spirit deeply planted m his breast.
