SENIOR TEAMS
Even Balance In Dunedin (From "N.Z. Truth's" Dunedin Rep.) RUGBY League men of Otago will start chasing the elusive- pig-skin m earnest on May 3, on which date the first round of the Ellis Cup matches will commence. h - The latest news from the Kaitangata sector presages the the fielding of a good solid side, built up by some likely converts from the Union code. This happy state of affairs means that the league is now assured of six senior teams, the calibre of which promises to be more even than has been the case m previous years. Just how strong Kaitangata really is may be gauged by Athletic when the north-end club journeys to the country on Easter Saturday to meet the home-towners In friendly encounter on the native heath. Most players know what some of these rural forwards can be like. Athletic, by the way, is expected to make a determined effort to retrieve some of its former glory m competitive games, and although no new players of note have yet been announced, it is sure that the, blue-and-gold striplings of last year will turn out with added avoirdupois, experience, and general optimism. The Hunt Brothers are a nuggety family bunch, whose services are always welcome. Some of the,Kalkorai cracks of last season have threatened to retire, but there are indications that they may yield to the suggestion that : their decision to keep to the touchline was much too premature. The Christian Brothers' backs, with M'Kewen. Pollock, Pearce and Woodhouse .setting a pretty pace, should again provide spectacular Rugby.
