Hawera Cup
(From "N.Z. Truth's" , North Island Rep.) Form over the past couple of months should be indicative of the prospects of several engaged m the Hawera Cup. QATURDAY'S event is worth £600, v and it is expected that a strong field will line out for the two-mile heat. / With the acceptances not available at the time of writing:, it is not possible to gauge the strength of owners' Intentions, but surmising that the majority wil he there on the day, it can be taken for granted that the handicap list will give a fair representation of the field. In summing up the catalogue of possibles and probables, "Truth" is not inclined to go past Little Guy. The half-brother to Great Hope ma de it his business at Ha wke's Bay to show just what he could do by winning m 4.37 from a 4.47 tnark. Gang Awa', second to Little Guy at Hawkes Bay, and All Red are two solid pacers handily situated. Though Gang Awa' is meeting- Little Guy on 36yds. better terms than was the case at Hastings, the Real Guy gelding should again be m front. Cornelian and Enawah were both handicapped, and the elect of the pair, 't ran be taken for granted, will be well m the picture. Cornelian was prominent for a time m the Wailcato Handicap, and Enawah should have no difficulty m going the two miles. C. S. Donald may elect to start Royal S'lk m preference to Sl** Rnv but whichever carries the Belfast livery will carry the bullion. Logan's ,Pride, v Rey Logan, Shady Snot and Great Author are others well placed. Summed up, Little Guy reads every bit as well as the^ Royal Silk-Sir Guy combination and the Cornelian- Enawah bracket.
