POLITICS AND POLO

ON entering the office oi H. G. Livingstone, Christchurch auctioneer and estate agent, the first object one sees is a photograph of the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates and another of Livingstone

himself m polo costume. In these two photographs are depicted the main interests of the man. That of Mr. Coates represents ' the Reform Political Party, m the control of which Henry Livingstone plays a big part; the other of himself shows that he is a prominent polo

player of the Christchurch "B" team. For a number' of years Livingstone has been on the Canterbury and Dominion executives of the Reform Party, and, until a few weeks ago, was secretary of the Dominion executive, but relinquished this 1 position pending the reorganisation of the party. When Mr. Coates puts his house m order again it is more than likely that the ex-secretary will -be given a high office m recognition of his past services to Reform. :
