new players, Including L. J. Bryan, all the way from England, ahd it is expected that this club will be able to field a particularly strong eleven. The only loss the club has suffered Is Judd, whose name has been associated with Midland for many years. Jndd has gone to Hutt. With the exception of the addition of Crook, frpm Institute, Kilbirnie will battle along with the old band this year, and they expect to be knocking at the door at the -end of the season. Included m the eleven are a number of youngsters who are capable of big things. While one regrets that illness has prevented Ken. Tucker from again acting as sole selector to the Wellington Cricket Association, one cannot but express gratification at the selection which has been made by the Association— Stan Brice. He is a player with many years' experience behind him, and there are few better judges of a cricketer m Wellington than he. Stan is m for a busy season Before Labor Day he has to pick a couple of teams — Possibles and Probables— to take part m a special match on the Basin Reserve, then next month -he will have to select. an eleven to represent the Town against the Country. His next job will be to' say who is to play against the Englishmen during tin; second week m December. In addition, of course, he will have to select the Wellington teams to represent the province m the all-important Plunket- Shield fixtures.
