FOR GISBORNE
Clockwork Is In Weak Crowd
(From '"N.Z. Truth's" Auckland Rep.) After his', two hurdle successes at Ellerslie; and Avondale m the autumn, great hopes were held out by • Clockwork's party regarding the Great Northern. LJQWEVER, they were doomed to 11 disappointment, for Clockwork never really survived his initial test — ■ that of the Hurdles — being one of those -which failed to finish. ..:.'■ -As a matter of fact he fell and suffered an injury to one of his joints, whjch .caused withdrawal .from further engagements at the fixture. '._ But, with care, that injury has mended considerably, and of late Clockwork has been standing -up to a reasonable quantity of work to fit him for Gisborne engagements. . Therefore, should : Clockwork make the intended trip to. Gisborne for next week's fixture, .his prospects should be considerably brighter- than when he essayed, '..to down, tho cream of New Zealand's jumpers at the Great Northern gathering. .'•■'■'
