"Nl. Truth " Opens List With £250
WIDESPREAD has been the havoc of the earthquake m the Mur- ** chison area. Many families have lost their all and, temporarily, are homeless.' They are the victims of a catastrophe that has laid waste the work of years. Help is urgently needed, and to give a lead to its thousands of readers the directors of "Truth (N.Z.) Ltd." have opened an Earthquake Relief Fund wit,h a contribution of £250. Readers are' invited to subscribe to the fund opened by the National Paper, and all contributions will be acknowledaed m these columns. ' It is hoped that "Truth's" filßiV^tlj^ealise a sum of £5000. There is no necessity to urge the'pressing need for funds to assist those people who were victims of the disastrous visitation. The public is well aware of the justice of the call upon their generosity, and "Truth" readers will, withoufc doubt, do' their bit. The offer of the directors of the : NatioriW&Psagp ;was made-on Thursday last as soon as the extent of the ea^lJM&ak© damage was known, but too late to m.'.ke an announcement m last week s issue. The contribution of vVe directors of "Truth" was the first to be made by any newspaper m the Dominion.
